When I was about 21 years old I used to visit Amsterdam regularly. I'd skip a class, take the train and head out. Even though Amsterdam was a great place for shopping the slightly eccentric clothes I wore at the time, I never really loved Amsterdam. It was always a bit loud and busy and I'd always get lost. Google Maps at that time wasn't really a thing yet.
Fast forward 15 years. Still I visit Amsterdam every now and then, wether it's to photograph couples or just to have a good time with my girlfriend. I have to admit that my opinion of Amsterdam has changed quite a lot. I have learned to embrace the chaos and to appreciate the vibrance of this beautiful and charming city. It's a place that'll never get boring. Looking for a great place to have food or coffee? Perhaps a museum, theater, market? There's probable one within an arm's reach.
But I digress. Allow me to introduce you to Kim and Chris. Talking about charming! I met them in their lovely apartment and we had a nice lunch together, giving me the perfect opportunity to connect with them a bit more. Turns out we had quite a few things in common! Kim and Chris are, like me, in a partial long-distance relationship. They both love traveling as I do and they are fond of good food. Me too!
We went around the city for a nice walk with some stops in places that they loved. We had a load of laughs and to finish it off some delicious ice cream. I'd almost forgotten that I was working. It just didn't feel like work at all. And it's this relaxed and natural atmosphere that will give you the most natural and authentic photographs. See for yourself!
