Meanwhile, it's already 2021. 21 years since the whole millennium panic. If only we knew then what awaited us in 2020! We have been at home for almost a year now, in a world where everything is different. No nice dinners, much fewer weddings, but worst of all: no travel. Somehow such a bizarre year also brought a lot of good. Lots of time, peace, tranquility. Not that rush of a busy and hectic wedding season. No pressure to get everything done on time. Lots of quality time with my favorite person in the world and my four-legged friends. Space for new things and for making great plans for the future. Of course it was a tough year, but I am someone who can also see the positive sides of it.
Anyway, that's traveling. That's really a thing. I miss it. Enormous. That certainly says something about how spoiled I have been with beautiful trips in recent years. From Asia to South America, from hot beaches to cold glaciers. I was able to see and share so many beautiful things with Carine. These are memories that no one will ever take away from us. And I also enjoy sharing it with you. I like Asia very much. I have previously been to Myanmar and India, and I really enjoy the (food) culture of Asia.
Traveling through Vietnam took place in November 2019. Not long before things broke out, to put it bluntly. For people who are just as topographically gifted as myself: Vietnam is long and narrow. It is therefore advisable to travel from south to north or vice versa. In any case, we chose the first option, because we wanted to end with a visit to Hanoi and Ha Long Bay. So we arrived in Ho Chi Minh City at the beginning of November. Saigon too. Not the most beautiful city with the most beautiful sights, but it did give us the chance to recover from the long journey and get used to the rhythm and culture. Well, I'll spare you a lengthy description of every place visited. But from Ho Chi Minh we went to Phan Thiet, Nha Trang, Hoi An, Da Nang, Hué, Dong Ha, Phong Nha (beautiful!), Ninh Binh, Hanoi and finally Ha Long Bang. After a few weeks of simple travel, we treated ourselves to a luxury cruise through Ha Long Bay. Breathtakingly beautiful. So beautiful that I hardly have any pictures of it!
It is not easy to reduce the thousands of photos to a reasonable number. I gave it a try anyway. All photos taken with my compact Panasonic Lumix GX-80 with the kit lens.
