It was March, and the threat of the Coronavirus was getting worse. Exciting times for everyone. The same goes for Mirjam and Bas. Will the wedding go ahead or not? You live for such a day and it is sad if you have to give up just before the finish line. Fortunately we crawled through the eye of the needle. Some new measures had already been applied, but weddings were still allowed. Albeit without shaking hands and disinfecting hands extra often. Fortunately, that's how you get used to it!
Early in the morning I drove to Leiden in a good mood. 'What a beautiful city it is,' I think every time I visit. Leiden has somewhat stolen my heart with its charming canals and oh-so-cosy center. A vibrant, lively city close to the beach, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, airports, everything! I was very happy that Mirjam and Bas booked me for their big day.
We started the day with the preparations in the cozy home of the bridal couple. Mirjam was picked up by Bas in a real London taxi. How beautiful they both looked! Due to the rain we moved the photo shoot to the Peter's Church, but that was absolutely no punishment. A beautiful location for an indoor shoot! Then there was a beautiful ceremony Grand Café de Burcht, where delicious wedding cake made by the bride's mother was also enjoyed. And apple pie, don't forget. I was treated to an extra large piece, and that was no punishment either. After the reception there was a delicious meal Jeanpagne, after which I drove back to Limburg. Bas and Mirjam, thank you for this beautiful day. And Leiden: hopefully see you soon!
