That whole corona quarantine? I'm not a fan of it. I'm used to being at home and working quite a lot, but I also like to go out for dinner or have a beer with friends. And of course travelling! Fortunately, staying at home also has its advantages. In the few weeks that we have been at home, my garage has finally been thoroughly cleaned out and my garden has been completely tidied up. The attic is being worked on, but it will look like new within a few days. I finally have time to publish something about my travels. I have seen so many beautiful places and countries in the past 2 years, but never took the time to publish anything about it. And that's a shame, because I like to share my experiences.
You may have already seen my blog post about Michelle and Koen's engagement shoot in Iceland. If not, click on the previous sentence to view it. But if you go all the way to Iceland, you will of course stay for a while. Carine was also in favor of that, because which photographer doesn't have Iceland high on their list? So we rented a big 4×4 and went on an adventure around the south coast of Iceland. By Reykjavík up to the glacial lake Jokulsarlon. And with that you also have the two somewhat pronounceable place names. I won't even bother with the rest.
What's so great about traveling with two photographers is that you often think and look the same. With such a jeep you can go off-road and visit places that look promising. More than once I said 'Hey this road on the left here looks kind of interesting...' and before I could finish my sentence Carine had already turned on the left turn signal. Because yes, she had already seen it herself. It is also not a problem at all if you have to stop 28 times while driving for a nice photo spot. I knew that in advance, so I didn't plan our week overly full. Theoretically you can go a lot further and see more in a week, but we like to take the time to really explore the area. I had created a Google Map in advance with interesting places. In the end we didn't see everything, but in return we visited places that are not on the map. I could go on for pages about Iceland. How beautiful, rough and mystical it is. How incomparably beautiful the waterfalls are. How you feel like you're on another planet in the geothermal areas. How the sunset at the glacial lake was truly indescribably beautiful. And how the green, dancing Northern Lights that we accidentally came across was a sight we will never forget. But my words would never do justice to what it really is. Iceland is a country that you must experience. That you have to see, feel, hear and smell. So rather than spend a lot of words trying to describe our adventure, I'd rather show it.
