In the past 15 years that I have been working as a wedding photographer, I have been to many places in all corners of the country. But Zutphen, I don't think I've ever been there before. It's a long drive from Limburg, so for a good night's sleep I slept in a cozy B&B nearby the night before Maaike and Wijnand's wedding. The morning after I drove into Zutphen, and I thought it was something. A small, old and cozy center with a nice atmosphere. I think that atmosphere was contagious, because from the moment I... hotel room van Wijnand walked in, I felt like a welcome guest at the wedding. When Maaike arrived it was no different. How nice to be able to photograph with such warm and beautiful company.
After a short bit of live music and some group photos, I left with the sweet bridal couple for a short photo shoot outside the city. Then on to Hackfort Castle
for a very nice wedding ceremony and the always delicious cake! And that atmosphere, it remained oh so nice. Besides a beautiful and open bridal couple, the entire company was just one big warm blanket. Because the first photo shoot was a bit disappointing, we decided to take some more photos in the vicinity of the castle as the sun slowly set.
Then on to the next surprise: The Cold Store. Wow, what an awesome location! I always like a bit of industrial, so this was a location close to my heart. After a nice drink I was allowed to join the guests for a shared dinner. With a well-filled belly we started the fantastic evening party. The day ended in style with a swinging dance floor, a nice cold glass of beer and hands in the air. Give me more days like this. Maaike and Wijnand, thank you!
